Katherine Duryea

Tax Consultant

Kathy has been a CPA/tax consultant for many years and has a strong background (35+ years) serving clients in public accounting. Her professional experience involves not only many years of public accounting including running her own firm, but also Controllership and internal financial reporting roles.

In addition to her tax and accounting experience, Kathy also has a long and successful career as a competitive athlete. In school she played basketball, was a member of the swim team, and ran track & cross-country. Outside of school, she competed in water skiing in all three events (Trick, Slalom, and Jump), skiing at Nationals in Trick Skiing. Once in college, Kathy completed her first Triathlon while 5 months pregnant with her first son. After her 2nd son, she gave up water skiing and competed only in triathlons, with hopes of someday competing in the Ironman. A joint injury in a qualifying race shattered her dreams, but while healing, she was introduced to mountain biking and within 1 ½ years of racing, landed a pro mountain bike sponsored deal with BMW-Proflex.

Since retirement Kathy has completed multiple marathons, numerous adventure races, climbed many 14’ers, and raced motorcycle enduros. She realized her Ironman dream in 2003 by completing the first ever off-road ironman race in Park City, UT in 19 hours. Kathy is an all-around athlete and has appeared on the cover of both Velo News and Health & Fitness. Kathy holds four medals from the ITU World Championships for off-road triathlon (2 golds, a silver and a bronze (2011-2014), and in 2022, was the only finisher of the Mountain Man Invitational off-road ironman distance race at 10,000 feet elevation.

When not doing tax returns or recreating outdoors, Kathy enjoys spending time with her spouse, her 3 grandsons, and her two dogs.
